Building bridges -
Making family reunification possible
Welcome! Familienbrücke Syrien is a non-profit association based in Berlin.
Through private guarantees and donations we enable families from Syria to reunite with their loved ones in Berlin.
Please support us with your donation.
We are currently working to reunite a family from Aleppo.
Every contribution is a great help for us to make this reunion possible.
Thank you very much!
Our story
Fleeing Aleppo
In the summer of 2015, 15-year-old Bashar was forced to flee by himself from the violence of the Syrian civil war.
Since his arrival in Germany, he has been doing everything in his power to bring his family to safety
A friendship
At his first shelter, Bashar(left) met Meral (right) and a close friendship developed. Meral became his volunteer guardian and supported him throughout his asylum process.
For 7 years, the two of them have been trying to help Bashar's family out of the war zone.
Our association
After multiple attempts to get a visa, private commitment proves to be the only way to reunite the family.
As a result, Bashar and Meral's circle of friends and family mobilized and founded “Familienbrücke Syrien” (FBS e.V.).
Humanitarian admission
Berlin's official regulation of humanitarian admission makes it possible for families of Syrian refugees to obtain a humanitarian visa.
This can be achieved if a person residing in Germany - on the basis of their own income - guarantees that the family's living expenses will be covered by private means.
How do we work?
3 pillars underpin our work
The association is the connecting link between the Syrian families, devided by war, and the people who want to make their reunification possible.
These people are:
- the commitment donors
- and the donors
Commitment donors are private individuals who guarantee that the living costs of the family members joining them will be covered privately. The commitment lasts for 5 years and no state aid may be applied for during this period.
Our association tries to find such persons and to take on this responsibility as far as possible.
Donors enable our association FBS e.V. - thanks to their valuable support - to cover the living costs.
This makes a reunion for Bashar's family possible.
Our first BIG step
Edoardo (left) became our first commitment donor.
Thanks to his commitment, we were able to apply for a humanitarian visa for Bashar's brother, his wife and their baby a humanitarian visa.
A wonderful first success!
While the application is being processed,
we are organising the arrival of the little family
so that we can support them as best we can, step by step,
in building a new life for themselves in Berlin.
